Fenaka has held a foundation-stone laying ceremony in Ga.Nilandhoo to commence the construction of its new powerhouse in the island.

The ceremony was attended by the Honorable MP of Dhaandhoo Constituency Mr. Yaugoob Abdulla, Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Saeed Mohamed, Island Councilors, employees and island residents. The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Guest Honourable MP Yaugoob Abdulla and MD Saeed.

The purpose for the construction of the new powerhouse is to relocate the power generation in the existing powerhouse currently in a residential neighborhood, to a faraway location in the island. This is expected to provide a reasonable solution to tremendous hardships that the islanders have been experiencing for years as a consequence of living in close proximity to the existing powerhouse. Furthermore, the new powerhouse is designed to cater to the growing electricity demand in the island.
